UPDATE: Oops. I made a minor mistake. The deadline is actually May 30th, not May 31st. You can check the follow link (awa-con.com forum thread) for confirmation: [link]

May 30th is the deadline!

I have created a Design Contest folder with the group gallery. You can submit your pieces into that folder if you'd like. Keep in mind that this folder does not serve as another form of entry. You are still responsible for submitting your entry by the choices listed below. Only submit finished works, no WIPs!

Anime Weekend Atlanta Design Contest 2012

:bulletblue: What is AWA looking for? :bulletblue:

Theme Forest/Agricultural Spirits

Original artwork to be used on the souvenir merchandise; program guide, postcards, t-shirts, buttons and other items.

Entries may also be used on the AWA website and convention advertising.

The t-shirts will be spot color printed, which means that you can only use a total of four different colors in your t-shirt designs. Spot color printing doesn't blend colors like process printing so you are really limited on colors those four colors.

The buttons/pins/badges will be printed using a four process printing. Process printing uses four different colors (black, cyan, magenta and yellow) in various combinations to create more colors. Basically, it's what a standard home printer would use on images. You are not limited on colors for process printing as colors like green or purple can be created by combining two of the four process colors.

:bulletblue: Who may enter? :bulletblue:
This contest is open to all artists, amateur and professional.

Entries must be submitted by individual artists only. No teams/collaborations.

There is no limit to the number of entries and artist may submit.

:bulletblue: Requirements :bulletblue:

All artwork submitted to the contest must feature the AWA mascot, "Red Head Girl" with her panda friend(s) and peaches.

Artwork submitted should be in full color with clean lines. Black and white images may be submitted for possible use in the program guide and on flyers.

:pointr: T-Shirt Design Requirements

The ideal entry will be a large solo figure against a white or irregular shaped background using 1-4 color spots

:pointr: Pin and Button Requirements

Entries should be simple 3-4 color designs the reduce to a 1 inch size and still look sharp

:pointr: Red Head Girl

The mascot can be dressed and posed as the artist chooses as long as she isn't dressed like a copyrighted character and the pose does not mimic copyrighted artwork.

She must be accompanied by her panda friend(s) and peaches.

Artwork that is degrading, Hentai or does not feature the Red Head Girl with her panda friend(s) and peaches will NOT be accepted.

You may include the logo and the year in your entry, but it is not required. You can submit two versions, one with and one without.

:bulletblue: How to Enter :bulletblue:

1. All entries must be 600dpi CMYK resolution to produce a good quality print. You may send a smaller or lower resolution version of your artwork to the contest for judging if you so desire, as long as you have a higher resolution version available upon request.

2. Please name each file you plan to submit in the following fashion: your_name_01.jpg

If submitting more than one piece, number them continuously:
your_name_02.jpg
your_name_03.jpg
your_name_04.jpg

This will make it easier for our contest organizers to keep track of all your entries.

Submit your artwork no later than May 30, 2012
Mailed submissions must be postmarked by May 23, 2012

You can submit your artwork in any of the following options:

Upload your work to a Website
Post your artwork to your own website. You can use any website you want as long as it can be accessed by AWA Staff. Most ISPs include online space with your account, or you can use an image hosting service.

After you upload to the site, send AWA an email to artwork@awa-con.com with your real name, nickname (if you use one for your art), age (if entering the "young artist" category), and an email address and phone number at which you can be reached. This is the most effective way of submitting very large, high resolution files.

Send your artwork via e-mail
Attach an electronic copy of your artwork to an email and send to artwork@awa-con.com

The attachment should be no larger than 200kb and must be in .jpg format.

Please include in the email your real name, nickname (if you use one for your art), age (if entering the "young artist" category), and an email address and phone number at which you can be reached.

Send your artwork via regular mail
Mailed entries must be postmarked by May 23, 2012

You can send an 8.5" x 11" color copy to:
Art Contest Anime Weekend Atlanta
P.O. Box 13544
Atlanta, GA 30324-0544

Do not send the original artwork, only send a photocopy!

Not a big fan of this 5 images a day thing.... I took 500 images last AWA, and it takes work to edit and post each picture with correct information. I enjoyed posted them through this group because I could do the batches I uploaded all at once.

If one person doesn't like having hundreds of images in their inbox, they can turn off deviations sent to their inbox while still being a member of this group... but why restrict those who are donating to the group? With a convention, multiple pictures are expected.

The #GA-Conventions group is still unlimited on submissions, and they cover multiple conventions including AWA.

This group was a helpful way of cosplayers finding themselves.

Question~! I'm more than likely to go only this year on Saturday, do I have to rent a hotel room to go? It would suck if I had to! And plus, my dad and I will probley order our passes online, but we live to far away to pick them up (we'll only be in Atlanta for Saturday). Help!

Just a thought, but maybe we need to see about imposing a limit on how many images one can dump into the AWA DA Groups gallery in a day or week, cause today I swear I probably axed over 300 messages from just the AWA group alone today which I feel is a bit excessive. I had about 650 messaged in my box today and over half where from whoever added a ton of stuff today...
I do believe this is what Fliker and Photobucket are for.... either that or we need to serious consider saying, hey... it great you wanna share your 200 cosplay shots to the DA gallery for AWA BUT NOT all 200 in one day...>>

Since the thread has been locked and will be deleted in less than 2 days, I'd advise everyone who sees this to hurry and read Ribbit's reaction to everything that was said. Especially since she's going to delete her reaction so very few people will be seeing it.

Was the Costume Contest recorded by the convention itself or should I just pray that a con goer uploads something?

I'm gonna post this here since I haven't heard from dA yet:

I'm watching this group, and I'm a member... but nothing is appearing in my inbox when people submit to this group. I have the watch toggled on, and this group isn't on my ignore/block list.... so what the lump?
